This Tip Show Exactly How-to SetUp the Slim Display Manager for Running a New Window Manager on GNU/Linux Desktops.
With this Procedure you will be Able to Installing or Switching your Desktop to: Lxde, Xfce, Openbox, Fluxbox, Enlightnement, IceWM or Blackbox.
Several Desktops are already Enabled and they are: Default, Xfce4, OpenBox, Ion3, Wmaker, BlackBox, Awesome.
To Switch of Desktop Session on the Login splash screen Press F1!
Follow the procedure below to Add an New Desktop like for example the Enlightenment one…
- Edit the Slim Configuration File
sudo nano /etc/slim.conf
- At the End of the sessions Line Append the Command to Run Desktop
To Run also Enlightenment for example the line should look like:sessions default,...,enlightenment_start
- Save & Exit from the nano Editor with:
Ctrl+x - After LogOut You should be able to Run the New Desktop 🙂
